January 2016 - The Best Of You

We've all seen those amazing women who appear effortlessly perfect - they seem to have everything just right and glide past not even realising that the rest of us exist. At this point I feel twice as fat, twice as plain and twice as illiterate. What I didn't realise is that this 'perfection' is not totally natural, it takes hard work behind the scenes. Yes, it's something that is obtained ...which means we can obtain it too!


Here's my seven tips to sizzle this summer as the best of you.


SLEEP - Get your quota

According to the Sleep Foundation, we need sleep, food, water and oxygen to survive. That means that sleep is not a luxury - it is vital. Most of us know that sleep is important, but few of us actually make sure to get what we need so we've forgotten what being rested feels like. Of course things vary from person to person, however as a general guideline the Sleep Foundation recommends 7-9 hours of sleep on average per night.

UNDERWEAR

Underwear sets the foundation of your outfit so it needs to be right. Spend the time at 2-3 different bra fitting services to ensure you get the right fit. Once you get the right bra buy multiple of them!! This is one that will hold you in, without gaps, back rolls and spillage.

HAIR

Visit your hair dresser and ask about a nourishing treatment that's right for your hair. My hair is naturally curly and so often gets dry ends and a touch of frizz. I love a hydrating nourishing treatment as it leaves my hair looking and feeling amazing.

TAN

Make sure you protect your skin from the sun and wear sun block each day. I find that the best way to get the healthy-looking glow of a tan is to fake it. Many people are running good value home businesses for spray tanning, which means these are now local and affordable. There are tans on the market place where development takes only two hours! That's right, good bye stained sheets!!

NATURAL-LOOKING MAKE UP

If you want to look amazing and like you just turned up like this then your make up needs to look natural. Start with a BB Cream that has sun block. This will balance out the tone of your skin to make it look flawless. Blusher is often forgotten however this is the perfect tool to highlight the contours of your face and really make you irresistible.

NAILS

To polish an effortless look, finish your nails with a subtle colour of your choice. Personally I love Nude Pink. If you want a polish that will last the distance ensure to use a top coat and then apply a layer of top coat each day. This can last up to a week without chips - even on me.

GLOWING SKIN

The best way to achieve this is from the inside. There are three every-day things to give us the best skin.
  • Eat your Vegies! Fruit and vegetables contain antioxidants such as Vitamin C and Betacarotene that help skin cell development, provide a healthy skin tone and protects skin from the cellular damage caused by free radicals. The BBC Good Food recommends that we eat a rainbow of colourful fruit and vegetables and aim for at least five portions a day.

  • Drink three litres of water per day - this will help to flush toxins from your body which helps to clear your skin and make it glow

  • Find a cardio that you love - for me it's boxing. Cardio makes your skin glow because it stimulates blood flow. Plus there are multiple other benefits to your body and organs when you participate in regular cardio activities.
